Becky was the Chief Financial Officer for KUED-TV and KUER-FM, the public media stations licensed to the University of Utah, for 19 years.  She also served as Interim General Manager of KUED from June through November 2013 in addition to her CFO duties. 

As CFO, Becky provided strategic direction and oversight of the administrative and financial activities for all departments within KUED and KUER.  She administered KUED and KUER’s budgets and ensured that all financial objectives and funding goals were met, and that the stations were in compliance with University policies, FCC regulations and other federal and state regulations.  She prepared annually audited financial statements and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) Annual Financial Report for KUED and KUER.  She handled relations with state, federal and other external auditors.

In addition, Becky interpreted financial accounting and procurement policies for staff and was responsible for internal controls, asset and property management for both stations.  She was responsible for compliance and oversight of all state and federal grants KUED and KUER received.

After working for the stations for 35 years in various accounting positions, she retired in 2019.

Becky served on the Public Media Business Association Board of Directors from 2006 to 2012, serving as Board Chair from 2009 to 2011.  She has experience in the private sector as well, as the accountant for a small business, as a financial analyst for a defense contractor and in real estate sales.      

Becky was born and raised in Provo, Utah.  She moved to Salt Lake City in 1972 to attend the University of Utah after attending Brigham Young University in Provo for one year.  She and her husband Mike live in Salt Lake City and are the parents of three children.

As a member of the Utah Citizens Counsel, Becky has a desire to see public policies put in place that provide adequate funding for public and higher education, ensure dignity and respect for all citizens, ensure a healthy environment and provide the public health and social support systems necessary for all Utah citizens to live healthy, productive lives.
