The Utah Citizens’ Counsel has endorsed the Fair Boundaries Initiative.
This initiative will seek voter approval for a law requiring the formation of an independent commission to develop legislation that provides fair and just guidelines for redrawing the boundaries of legislative districts. Utah is recognized as one of the most gerrymandered states in the country. The Fair Boundaries action group intends to enact these reforms by circulating a petition this summer to put a citizen’s initiative on the ballot in 2010.
